Ray Lee Voon Leong — Jury member of Russian International Horror Film Festival
Ray is a talented Malaysian Business Entrepreneur in film directing and producing, music production & cultural strategist. He is the founder of Hornbill Films Sdn Bhd, founder of Mama Treble Clef Studio & Guitar Empire, and the President of Malaysian Indigenous Film Maker Society. He ventured in creative industry for almost 25 years, he focus in grooming indigenous people in Malaysia to become film makers, artist & creative people.
In October 2021, Hornbill Films had entered venture partnership with overseas outfits, namely, Stanulis Films Inc, Anavlis Consultants Inc and Sun Capital (Hong Kong) Limited to plan and develop a modern Entertainment & Media Center Project in Malaysia. Ray is responsible for the project concept development aspects of the project, as well as co-producing Hollywood made Southeast Asia’s film project(s) with Stanulis Films Inc. The intended film projects are a sequel entitled “Zombie Infection 2” to his original released movie, which is in pre-production planning stage plus an indigenous comedy adventure drama movie, also in the pipeline.
He is an Associate Professor from Yunnan Arts University in China, a holder of Diploma in Film Making from Asia Metropolitan University and a Bachelor Degree in Creative Industry Management from University Utara Malaysia (Northern University of Malaysia), and awarded a certificate from Bucheon Fantastic Film School from South Korea.
Ray produced over 20 short films, 2 television movie and reality show. In 2019, Ray produced and directed his first 90 minutes Malaysian feature film entitled “Belaban Hidup-Infeksi Zombi” (“Fight for Life-Zombie Infection”). This amazing zombie movie has received regional media publicities from the likes of Nikkei Asia, South China Morning Post, Al Jazeera Media, etc, as well as garnering 30 international film awards from Asia, Europe and Americas in 2021.
His past experience in music production included organization of live music concerts in China and Indonesia, and shot a music video in Great Wall of China (2014), New York (2017).
Moreover, Ray received Malaysia’s most prestigious business award, The Brand Laureate for Brand Leadership e-Branding Award 2020 as to his contribution towards building the local film industry. Further, he was featured as member in the edition of Britishpedia’s “Most Successful People in Malaysia” published by the British Publishing House.
