From September, 27th to October, 1st, Moscow will host the XIII Russian International Film Festival of Suspense Cinema «DROP», which traditionally consists of film screenings at the capital’s venues, a master class from star guests and an awards ceremony. The organiser of the event for the last thirteen years has been the production company Live Entertainment, represented by its director Victor Bulankin.
The film festival is included in the list of international film festivals officially held in the territory of Russia, issued by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and is held with the support of the World Union of Suspense Film Festivals. The “Drop” has a «GOLD» status and a top rating among participants and applicants on the largest submission platform FilmFreeWay. As of this year, the film festival has officially changed its name, expanding to include all existing suspense film subgenres.
The competitive program of the festival, consisting of premiere fantastic films, action films, detectives, horror films and thrillers, will run non-stop at the top venues of the capital. The opening session will be held on September, 27th at 18:00 at the “GUM» Film Theatre (3 Red Square), the closing ceremony and awarding of winners on September, 30th at 18:00 at the art platform «DEPO 3 Vokzala» (23/5 Novoryazanskaya st), a Q&A format master class with star guests on September, 29th at 18:00 in the co-working studio “Lyudi Goroda» (Botanicheskyy Sad station, 2/1 proezd Serebryakova, 5th floor), and competitive film screenings at the historical “Mir Iskusstva” film theatre (33/3 Dolgorukovskaya st) and in the film club “Sama Nevinnost’’ (4/1 Myasnitsky proezd) in the period from September 27 to October 01 all days long (follow the schedule of sessions on the festival’s website www. horrorpremia.ru). For the whole last year the organising committee has been selecting the best pictures so that Muscovites and guests of the capital could be the first to see them. Both renowned directors and novice creators in suspense genres have sent their works to the contest. Despite the complicated geopolitical situation, applications came from all over the world.
Star guests from abroad promised to attend the award ceremony and give a master class: Mehdi Fard (Iran, «Immortality», «Weightlessness», «Sinful Pleasures»), Junsuke Kinoshita (Japan, «Steppe Gods», «Head Game», «Sword of Toshizo», «Mr. Knockout», «Major 1 and 3», «The Other Side of Death», «The Devil’s Hunt», «The Fifth Guardian»), Ilker Erdemir (Turkey, Sultan Suleiman’s double from the series «The Magnificent Century», movie actor, participant of media shows on Russian and Turkish TV), Gianluca Vannucci (Italy, “The Goldsmith», «Imperfect Couples», “The Grossi Gang», «Disappearance», «The Last Alchemist», «Alien Face», «The One Who Comes»), Andrew Wynn (USA, «Deeper! «, «Ready for Anything,» «The Optimists: Caribbean Season,» «The Canterville Ghost») and Richard Lee Wilson (USA, «Sky,» «Petropolis,» «Law & Order,» «No Crying,» «Nuremberg,» «Operation Satan»). Star video game developers are also expected to attend.
Foreign masters of the suspense film industry, who will not be able to attend the events in person, will send their video messages of welcome to the Russian audience.
This year’s guests of honour representing the Russian cinema will be Igor Zhizhikin, Alexei Guskov, Yuri Stoyanov, Alexander Robak, Wolfgang Cerny, Marco Dinelli & others.
Among the performing artists at the ceremony will be Alexei Elistratov (of the group “Revolvers”), Vakhtang, Konstantin Kozhevnikov, Anton Zatsepin, Roman Spektr, the group “Gestalt”, adolescent participants of the projects “Golos” and «Eurovision» and others.
Film Festival «KAPLYA» is an open event, and it can be visited by any fan of the genre and movie stars.
