15th MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL HORROR, ACTION AND FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL & AWARDS “DROP”
the one – the one and only☺
Russia has thousands of festivals. Some are connected with cinema—that is, they are film festivals. A small share of these projects has “international” status, some even officially. Very few officially international film festivals are recognized abroad; around a dozen can host foreign guests from all over the world. Several festivals are genre-based and tied to a specific theme; a couple focus on suspenseful entertainment cinema. And only ONE festival is always with you, whatever happens in our multifaceted and unpredictable world. And yes, of course, that is us: the Moscow International Festival of Action and Thriller Cinema, and its name is… of course… K A P L Y A.
Are you a modern, active person? Do you love horror, adore cuddling up with your significant other to watch psychological thrillers on the big screen, or perhaps sometimes immerse yourself in childhood dreams by watching science fiction? Maybe you are looking for unconventional audiovisual solutions, such as virtual reality, vertical films shot on a mobile phone, or ultra-modern films created with artificial intelligence—so fashionable and promising these days? Do you like being on trend and directly participating in what is happening on screen? Yes, on screen, because, as we know, cinema should be watched only in a cinema! And if you are a little scared and have phobias, let us reassure you: everyone has phobias, and they are actually treated with simple “tricks” like the 25th frame in cinema; and horror films never really scare you—they only teach you not to be afraid! That is our slogan. So whichever row you look from, you definitely need to come to us; and the following information is definitely for you.
From October 28 to November 1, 2026, Moscow will host nothing less than the anniversary—and therefore big and large-scale—XV Moscow International Film Festival of Action and Thriller Cinema “KAPLYA,” traditionally consisting of screenings at well-known venues in the capital, master classes with star guests from Russia and abroad, and, of course, a gala awards ceremony. The permanent organizer of all these events for all 15 years is the production company LIVE ENTERTAINMENT, represented by its permanent director, film producer and Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, Viktor Bulankin. The festival, by the way, is included in the Russian Ministry of Culture’s list of international film festivals officially held in Russia, and is also supported by the World Union of Thriller Film Festivals. “KAPLYA” holds GOLD status and a top rating among participants and applicants on the major global submission platforms FilmFreeWay and FestHome. The festival covers all existing action/thriller subgenres and has the direct goal of entertaining audiences. As strange or incompatible as it may seem to some, “KAPLYA” is a very democratic project: our mission is to unite all ages, so that families come to us, because everyone will definitely find something interesting. For example, the friendly ghost Casper or the scary-looking but very fashionable Baba Yaga—they are with us too ☺
The awards ceremony, which since last year has been combined into one big event with a star master class in the format of a Q&A (question-and-answer) session, will take place on November 1 at 18:00 at the concert art venue of the gastro-hall “DEPO 3 Vokzala” at Novoryazanskaya st., 23 bldg. 1 (metro Komsomolskaya or Baumanskaya), while competition screenings will be held at the historic digital cinema “Mir Iskusstva” (Dolgorukovskaya 33 bldg. 3, metro Novoslobodskaya) non-stop from October 28 to 31. And, of course, we timed our festival to Halloween, as you can easily guess from the dates… Follow the event schedule on the festival website. All films are premieres; we involved leading foreign and Russian specialists in their selection. So out of a hundred submitted works, we selected only the best. You will be able to see films from a wide variety of countries around the globe.
Domestic and foreign star speakers plan to attend the awards ceremony and take part in the Q&A session.
Foreign figures of action/thriller cinema who cannot be present in person will send video greetings to Russian viewers, which has already become a good tradition.
This year’s awards ceremony show program will feature young future stars and graduates of top TV projects.
The “KAPLYA” Film Festival is an open event, and anyone can attend—fans of the genre and of film stars alike.
